Fatal rollover accident reported in Brownsville

Authorities are confirming that two illegal immigrants are dead following a rollover accident in north Brownsville.

It all happened on Ruben M. Torres Boulevard near McAllen Road around 10:45 p.m. Monday.

Brownsville police said a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with Minnesota license plates was involved in a rollover accident with eight people inside.

Officers arrived to find Border Patrol agents at the scene and discovered that two people were ejected from the SUV.

Brownsville police reported that a 13-year-old boy from Matamoros, Tamaulipas died at the scene.

Investigators said 19-year-old Mexico City resident Arturo Venegas died at the Valley Regional Medical Center.

Police said two people fled from the scene and have not been located.

Investigators said that all of the passengers are believed to be illegal immigrants from Mexico and Honduras.
