A check cashing employee is facing criminal charges after she allegedly stole nearly $2,700 dollars from work.
Harlingen police arrested 24-year-old Alyssa Puga on a felony theft charge on Friday.
Investigators said the Check-N-Go off West Lincoln Avenue filed a theft report against Puga.
The company claims an internal audit reveals missing cash while surveillance cameras caught her stealing $2,694.98 from their deposits.
A motive for the theft is not clear but Harlingen police arrested Puga at an apartment off South 17th Street Street on Friday.
Puga appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge on Saturday morning where she was issued a $5,000 dollar bond.
