Early Morning Accident Injures 1, Slows Traffic in Willacy County

A woman remains in critical condition after slamming her vehicle into a telephone pole just west of Raymondville.

The accident happened around on West Highway 186 near FM 1834 in Willacy County around 7 a.m. Monday.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the accident.

State troopers said force of the impact was so violent, that the Pontiac Grand Am ended up wrapped around the pole.

First responders worked for 30 minutes using the Jaws Of Life to get her out of the car.

Paramedics rushed the woman via helicopter to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen with multiple injuries, including the head, neck, and chest.

The woman was last listed in critical condition.

The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time.
