A well-respected Weslaco dentist was killed in a weekend plane crash.

Dr. Leonard Ledet, his brother Greg, and his two sons, Mason, 13, and Paul, 17, were killed while traveling to the Texas A&M game on Saturday when their plane disappeared off the radar near Terrell after taking off from an airport near Roanoke.

Federal Aviation Administration launched an investigation.

The Texas Department of Public Safety assisted with an aerial search, and discovered the plane and four people dead inside.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

On Monday, the hundreds of many patients he served across the Rio Grande Valley and his staff were shocked to learn the news.

Dr. Ledet opened a practice in Weslaco roughly a year ago providing long-term care to patients in nursing homes” said Treatment Coordinator Liz Ruiz.

Ruiz received the tragic news on Sunday.

“Even though Dr. Ledet also owned a dentist office in Southlake,” said Ruiz. “We want people to know he was very involved here.”

“He saw patients in nursing homes from Brownsville all the way to Mission” Ruiz said.

Dr. Ledet worked one-on-one with many patients here in the Rio Grande Valley.

His brother, Greg Ledet, also worked with him.

He was always in the family “very involved in the business.”

“He would meet with the administrators frequently.”

On Monday, the office in Southlake was closed, but the office in Weslaco remained open.
