Accident temporarily shuts down westbound Expressway 83 in San Juan

The westbound lanes of Expressway 83 are expected to be shut down through early Monday afternoon due to a major auto accident.

The accident happened on westbound Expressway 83 between Cesar Chavez and Raul Longoria Roads during the morning rush hour.

Details were not immediately available but San Juan officials said they needed to close the expressway to investigate and clear the accident.

Authorities temporarily diverted traffic to the frontage road of the expressway, which was reopened around 12 p.m. Monday.
