Man steals $142,206 worth of plastic containers

A Brownsville man is jailed tonight after stealing $142,206 worth of plastic containers.

Brownsville Police Investigators told Action 4 News Noe Preza Tejada acted as an independent contractor and would pick up pre-ordered containers from DURA located on the 600 block of Vermillion for local businesses.

According to reports, DURA received shipment requests, but the buyers near received their orders.

Businesses noticed something was wrong and alerted police.

Police said an investigation uncovered Tejada was working with an ex-worker at DURA to steal the containers worth $173 dollars each, and turn around and sell them for profit.

In total, 822 were reported missing.

Noe Preza Tejada surrendered to police On Thursday.

Brownsville Police say this is an active investigation, and more arrests are expected.
