Authorities have released a sketch of a man they believe threatened and tried to rape a woman inside her Southmost home.

Investigators told Action 4 News that the crime happened on the 600 block of Santa Cruz Street back on September 2nd.

The woman told police that she got home from work and was surprised from behind by a man carrying a sharp metal object.

Police said the woman fought with the man by the front door of her house and yelled out for help when a car drove by.

The suspect fled into a nearby wooded area while the woman called police.

Investigators created a composite sketch of the suspect’s face.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 240 pounds with a medium complexion.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (956) 546-TIPS.
