Police identified the body of the man who was killed instantly after crashing into a large canal pipe Friday evening in  Pharr.

The accident happened on the 700 block of Nolana Avenue. 

Police said the 65-year-old Donald Ray Nichols was going west when he veered south and smashed into a pipe on the south side of the street.  

Colonel Donald Nichols was an Rotc Instructor at PSJA North High School. 

It is unknown if the district will provide grievance counselors for faculty and staff.
