Brownsville police seized seven high powered rifles hidden inside a truck's gas tank.
A K-9 officer arrived at the IMAN Motors off Sam Perl Boulevard for a random inspection on Tuesday night.
Police said authorities found seven AK-47 assault rifles, ammunition and a large rifle scope inside the gas tank of a grey Dodge pickup truck.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the truck had temporary license plate tages from Georgia.
The person in charge of the car lot allegedly told police the truck was dropped off that morning by unknown subject earlier that day.
It’s not clear how the guns got inside the gas or if they were headed to Mexico but the case remains under investigation.
