Santa Maria woman charged for beating disabled person

A Santa Maria woman was arrested Wednesday for beating and injuring a disabled woman.

A Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to an assault at a house on Cobaruias Road.

The victim told the deputy that Martina Salinas threw a cell phone at her forehead and nose. 

She also claimed that Salinas punched her on the side of her head and her mouth.

The victim had a visible swollen upper lip and her face was covered in blood.

Salinas admitted to throwing the cell phone.

She was taken into custody and was charged with injury to a disabled individual.

Her bond was set at $7,500.
