A Brownsville man is behind bars after a teenage girl allegedly caught him in the act of sexually abusing her little sister.

Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested 31-year-old Dionicio Vasquez, Jr. over the weekend.

Court records show Vasquez is accused of sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl at a rural home off Maryland Road just northeast of Brownsville.

The records show that the girl’s teenage sister walked in on it happening on Friday and immediately told their mother.

Action 4 News does not identify victims of sexual abuse but the records show that Vasquez had access to the girl through her family.

The girl told investigators that Vasquez touched her in her private parts.

Vasquez allegedly confessed to the crime and told deputies he had been sexually abusing the girl since July.

Deputies wrote that Vasquez, “feared he would do the same thing if he went back home.”

Investigators charged Vasquez with aggravated sexual assault of a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child.

The Brownsville man appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Court Judge Luis Saenz where he was issued $200,000 dollars in bonds.

Vasquez remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
