Two more suspects are behind bars for the kidnapping and murder of a man at a west Brownsville restaurant.

Brownsville police have arrested 28-year-old Leonardo Vasquez and 33-year-old Carlos Enrique Vasquez on Tuesday.

The three are now facing murder charges for the July 18th kidnapping and death of 22-year-old Reyes Bocanegra.

Kidnapping & Murder

Five gunmen kidnapped Bocanegra at the Mariscos Playa Azul seafood restaurant off Military Highway.

Authorities found Bocanegra's body a short time later off Roberta Road in the Rancho Viejo area.

Brownsville police arrested previously arrested suspects Francisco Javier Flores and Abraham Parra.

Authorities arrested a juvenile allegedly connected to the crime in Zapata last week.

Criminal History

Brownsville Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez said drug-related crime had ties to Matamoros and that the suspects are believed to be affiliated with the Partido Revolucionario Mexicano prison gang.

Court records show that Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers arrested Leonardo Vasquez for money laundering back in July 2008.

Vasquez was out on parole for money laundering at the time of his arrest for Bocanegra’s murder.

The records show Vasquez’s last known address as listed off Charlotte Street in San Benito.

Court records show that suspect Carlos Enrique Vasquez lived off North 10th Street in Mercedes.

Vasquez had a criminal history that included drug charges going back to April 2007.
