Investigators believe a Harlingen man may have hanged himself after killing his wife in a crime that police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

Authorities identified the couple as 55-year-old Jose Elias Colmenares and 54-year-old Herlinda Trujillo.

Harlingen police were called to their home at 714 Rangerville Road on Monday evening after a relative found their bodies.

Investigators told Action 4 News that it appears Colmenares may have hung himself in a shed on the property.

It's not clear how Trujillo died but an autopsy has been ordered.

Police reported that there no signs of forced entry into the couple's home.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
