A teen employee of the Harlingen WhiteWings is facing criminal charges after allegedly selling alcohol to a minor at one the team’s baseball games.
Harlingen police arrested 19-year-old Joshua Aaron Jaeger on a selling alcohol to a minor charge on Wednesday evening.
Investigators told Action 4 News that an officer at the game saw Jaeger selling Bud Light beer to a teenage girl.
The police officer learned that the girl was 19 years old and arrested Jaeger after learning he didn’t check her ID.
Jaeger spent the night in jail was given a $1,000 dollar bond Thursday morning.
Under Texas state law, selling alcohol to a minor is a Class A misdemeanor punishable up to one year in jail and/or a $4,000 dollar fine.
Action 4 News spoke to the Harlingen Whitewings owners who said the Jaeger is on leave and has been counseled about the incident.
Owners said that Jaeger was TABC certified to sell beer but failed to ask the girl for ID.
Beer vendors at the games are now required to ask for ID for all patrons regardless of their age.
