A 29-year-old man was arrested after he attacked his neighbor at a Fourth of July party in Combes.

An argument broke out at a gathering on Young Road between the neighbor and the 29-year-old’s father.

The neighbor said Leroy Atkinson stepped in between him and Atinkson’s father while they were arguing.

Leroy then began striking his neighbor several times on his body and face causing him to fall to the ground.

Family members at the party tried to separate the two, and when they finally did, Leroy grabbed a beer bottle and smashed it into his neighbors head.

The bottle cut his neighbor in his left ear and caused a laceration above his left eye.

People at the party called the police. When an officer arrived at the scene, he took Leroy into custody.

Leroy was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and his bond was set at $20,000.
