Some areas of the Rio Grande Valley saw more than 2 inches of rain Saturday afternoon as thunderstorms rolled through South Texas.

Winds in some areas exceeded 45 miles per hour with frequent cloud to ground lightning.

In Zapata County, there were reports of nickel-sized hail along with the heavy rains.

A flash flood warning was also issued for Zapata County until 4:30 Saturday afternoon.

A flood advisory has also been issued for southern Cameron County until 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

More thunderstorms are expected Friday as a center of low pressure continues to circle just off the Texas coast.
