A Cameron County man is behind bars after being arrested as part of a federal child pornography investigation.

Alejandro Baca appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Felix Recio in Brownsville on Wednesday morning.

The 20-year-old Harlingen man is accused of downloading and sharing child porn from a peer-to-peer network.

Court records released on Wednesday show the investigation was started by the Wheaton Police Department in Illinois back in November.

The digital paper trail allegedly led to Baca's account prompting U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to search his Mississippi Street home in June.

Authorities allegedly found hundreds of images of child pornography on his computer.

Some of the images allegedly involved infants and toddlers.

Judge Recio denied bond for Baca until a Monday afternoon hearing.
