Four caught, one suspect still on the run from McAllen ATM theft

Although four men have been caught for stealing from a McAllen ATM, one suspect still remains at large.

Police are searching for 34-year-old Michael Chavez.

He is described as being a Hispanic male, 5’ 7” to 5’ 9” in height and weighing around 200 pounds.

Anyone with information on Chavez’ whereabouts can contact McAllen Crime Stoppers at 956-687-TIPS (8477).

Information that leads to an arrest and/or conviction may be eligible for a cash reward.

The men were reported to have used access codes to gain entry into the South 10th Street ATM machine to steal money from it.

Omar Pando Perales of Palmhurst, Alberto Quintero of McAllen, Eric Haines Reyes of Penitas and Luis Armando Silva of Mission were all arraigned in the McAllen Municipal Court on Saturday.

They were charged with third degree felony theft, and their bonds were set at $500,000 each.

Perales, Quintero and Reyes were also charged with tampering with physical evidence with an extra bond of $10,000 each.
