However, many are not aware of the resources that 2-1-1 Texas provides.
With just one phone call, you can get all of your questions answered.
According to executive director Jose Luis Gonzalez, many people do not realize that before and after a disaster strikes, there are resources that can help them get prepared, and back on their feet.
"Many times people ask themselves after a disaster, well who do we call? Who's going to help us? And they can just call 2-1-1," said Gonzalez.
The time to call is now, especially if you need to take advantage of the evacuation transportation system.
2-1-1 has the Transportation Assistance Registry, also known as TAR, for anyone needing assistance to get out of town before disaster strikes.
"It is important for families to be prepared and to know of 2-1-1 because we live in an area that is prone to hurricanes," said Gonzalez.
