Several hurt after smuggler rolled over during chase in La Joya

Four undocumented immigrants were hospitalized after their smuggled rolled over during a chase on Saturday afternoon in La Joya.

According to Police, the rollover happened at about 3 p.m. on the FM 2221, on the city’s west side.

Officers attempted to pull over a Ford F150, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a chase with police.

The Ford F150, which police believe had at least nine undocumented immigrants on board, rolled over.

Four of the immigrants were transported to local hospitals, one had to be airlifted.

La Joya Police said the driver was not injured and is in custody.

He is expected to be arraigned on Monday morning, according to dispatch.
