Authorities are investigating a welding accident that created a small fire in the potato chips aisle of a supermarket in McAllen.

Firefighters were called out to the HEB supermarket off North Ware Road and Pecan Boulevard early Friday morning.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a small fire started following a welding accident.

No injuries were reported and the store was closed at the time of the incident.

Some potato chips were reportedly burned but employees were able to put out the fire on their own.

Firefighters were called inside the store for some clean up duties and to investigate the incident.
