A patas monkey captured in Mission and brought to the Gladys Porter Zoo will now undergo a series of medical exams.

The male monkey spent weeks in the wild in a rural area of Mission before its May 14th capture.

It’s still not clear where the monkey came from but it was not aggressive.

Zoo officials  have not named the monkey but said it will undergo x-rays, a TB test, and a general physical on Wednesday morning.

Gladys Porter Zoo Veterinarian Dr. Thomas deMaar will perform the series of tests.

This will be its only trip out of quarantine and media will be allowed in the clinic during testing.

Zoo officials plan to find a suitable home for the monkey.
