A Harlingen High School South student is facing criminal charges after authorities found a Xanax pill in her purse.

Harlingen police arrested 18-year-old Taylor Michelle Mitchell on a possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone charge on Wednesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that police received a tip that Mitchell had pills with her on campus.

A female guard searched Mitchell and found one Xanax pill in her purse.

The 18-year-old student appeared before a Harlingen municipal judge where she was issued a $15,000 dollar bond.
