Embattled Cameron County District Attorney Armando Villalobos is headed back to the courtroom on Friday.
Villalobos is fighting a federal racketeering indictment but also a legal petition to remove him from office.
A hearing for that petition has now been scheduled before visiting Judge Manuel Bañales in the 444th State District Court in Borwnsville at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The Cameron County district attorney maintains his innocence and has vowed to stay in office.
But local attorney Juan Angel Guerra has filed a petition on behelf of a Harlingen man to have Villalobos removed from office.
Both Villalbos and Guerra are candidates in a crowded race for the newly-created U.S. Congress District 34 seat.
