A San Benito father spent Mother’s Day weekend behind bars after officers found pills and drugs in his car, with his girlfriend and their 1-year-old daughter inside.

Police arrested 20-year-old Marco Antonio Valencia on Friday night on Bonham Street.

They said Valencia rear ended his 2002 maroon Cadillac into a marked police unit.

The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, and asked Valencia and his girlfriend to step out of the car.

Inside, the officer found a large amount of marijuana, four clear plastic bags with cocaine, and alazopram pills.

Police arrested the 20-year-old driver, while family members came to pick up the girlfriend and the one-year-old child.

Valencia faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, endangering a child, and driving while intoxicated with a child passenger.

Judge Ben Yudesis issued him a $95,000 bond.

The officer also notified Child Protective Services.
