Customers and workers inside of a Mercedes bank had quite the scare today.

A 67-year-old woman accidentally drove right into one of the bank's offices.

It all happened at the BBVA Compass Bank located on Starr Street.

Mercedes Police received the call just before noon Tuesday.

The 67-year-old driver tells police she meant to step on the brakes but instead pushed down on the accelerator.

Luckily she ran into a vacant office.

While the glass was shattered and a few pieces of furniture were damaged, the 50-year-old female passenger only had a few minor injuries.

"It was just a little accident,” Mercedes Police Chief Olga Maldonado said.  “I guess I wouldn't call it little but thank God no one was injured and everybody is fine."

While the inside of the bank was been closed throughout the afternoon while workers are making repairs the bank will resume its normal business hours on Wednesday.

The bank released the following statement.

“We are pleased to report no one was seriously injured in the accident. Our concern is for the safety of our employees, our customers, the driver and the passenger.”
