Brownsville man jailed for chase, 162 crack rocks

A Brownsville man is behind bars after a short chase where authorities ended up finding more than 162 crack rocks and several baggies of cocaine.

Brownsville police arrested 27-year-old Juan Flores on two criminal charges early Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators told Action 4 News that an Crime Stoppers tip lead police to Flores.

An officer tried to pull over Flores for a traffic violation off 10 th Street and the frontage road of Expressway 77/83 around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Flores allegedly tried to flee from police in his car but was caught.

Police went to his home on the 2900 block of Old Alice Road.

Authorities found at a total of 162 crack cocaine rocks and 16 baggies of powdered cocaine in the chase and at his home.

Flores remains behind bars in the Brownsville City Jail under first-degree felony possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest charges.

The 27-year-old man is expected to face a judge on Wednesday morning.
