Some 300 students had to evacuate a wing of Garza Middle School following reports of an air conditioning unit malfunction.
It all happened at the school off Mon Mack Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
School district officials said the air conditioning unit malfunction was causing smoke prompting administrators to call firefighters.
The students were moved from the affected pod at the school to the gymnasium and cafeteria.
No injuries have been reported.
