A North Carolina woman and her Mexican national boyfriend were arrested at the Veterans’ Port of Entry for trying to smuggle a minor into the United States.
The couple was attempting to cross the Veteran’s International Bridge with four children on Thursday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers sent the vehicle to a secondary inspection, where it was discovered at passport control that one of the kids was a Mexican citizen without any legal documents.
The 10-year-old child was reunited with his mother and returned to Mexico. The other three U.S. citizen children were turned over to their family members.
CBP officers arrested the 34-year-old woman and the 36-year-old man for violating immigration law.
