Three people are in area hospitals after being injured during an early Thursday morning home invasion near Edinburg.

It all happened at a home outside city limits on Rambo Street after 2 a.m. Thursday.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office told Action 4 News that deputies responded to a call about a home invasion and shooting.

Deputies found the homeowner and his 21-year-old son injured.

The homeowner had been beaten on the head with the butt of a gun and his son had been shot twice.

Paramedics both of them to local hospitals.

The homeowner is listed in critical condition but his 21-year-old son is expected to recover at the Edinburg Children's Hospital.

Deputies found a person believed to the suspect at a nearby Stripes convenience store off Tower Road and Highway 107.

Investigators said the suspect had been shot and remains under sedation.

The two men were rushed to McAllen Medical hospital, where one is expected to be transferred by helicopter to another trauma center.

A short time later, officials found a third victim at the Stripes convenience store at Tower Road and Highway 107.

A motive in the home invasion is still not clear but deputies are still investigating and questioning witnesses.
