San Juan Police Department received a tip from Crime Stoppers Wednesday night that cocaine, pills, and marijuana were all being sold from a home on Yesemia Street.

Sgt. Rolando Garcia, with the San Juan police, said the narcotics team showed up to the home of Raul Acosta and found over 129 of little white pills which are commonly referred to as the 'date rape' drug.

The “date rape” drug, also known as “roche pills”, can be legally bought in Mexico but not in the U.S.

San Juan police said with the recent violence happening south of the border, they thought the days of seeing Clonazepam were long gone.

But they soon found out that wasn't the case.

"They can easily be slipped into drinks at bars or other locations where open containers are sold,” said Sgt. Garcia. “It causes the person to be very drowsy and can cause amnesia when the full effects of the pills kick in."

Raul Acosta was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone, deadly conduct and assault.

San Juan PD started a program last year called Operation Curbside.

It was created to combat street level drug dealing and has proven successful thus far.

Last year the department seized over 35,000 pounds from street level dealers and are expecting to surpass that number this year.
