Valley AirCare spent 32 years in a 3,000 square foot building but on Thursday they introduced their new state of the art 16,000 square foot building in Harlingen.

The company said it's a big change that will help better serve patients in the area.

These Valley AirCare paramedics and health care professionals will no longer be cramped in the former building but now have this brand new building to call home.

It's the second station for Valley AirCare since it started providing emergency services in the 1980’s to the area.

"What this gives us is the ability to offer more training not only to our own medics here but also to open it up to the community" said Valley AirCare Director of Transportation Rene Perez.

Perez, a registered nurse, said the new facility will be able to house about 16 ambulances, more administrative offices and more equipment all which will help continue a high quality patient care service.

"You look at an ambulance and it looks like it has everything you need,” said Perez. “But it really is on the personnel that you have and the training involved so we run mobile intensive care units as well as critical care so we can transport patients of any type of severity and transport them safely to a hospital "

Valley Air Care has responded to nearly 300,000 calls throughout its existence.

The original air care building located on Business 77 will now serve as a sub-station.
