Alcohol blamed for fatal crash in rural Hidalgo County

Authorities are investigating a fatal crash in rural Hidalgo County.

DPS Troopers told Action 4 News Issaias Garcia of Mission lost control of his Chevy pick-up while going around a curve on FM 2221 early Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the 30-year-old failed to negotiate the curve and lost control of his vehicle.

His Chevy went off the road, into a side skid and overturned around 1:38 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Garcia did not survive the crash.

DPS Troopers said Garcia had been drinking alcoholic beverages at the time of the accident.

The crash is still under investigation.
