It is one less question the Precinct 6 Constable's Office in Los Fresnos will have to answer.

After a week on the case, they confirmed Chris Daniel Garcia, 33, crossed the border into Matamoros on March 7.

Surveillance video at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville showed him as customs officers checked his southbound truck.

"Our office discovered that Mr. Garcia crossed into Mexico at 4:36 in the morning," Constable Merced Burnias told Action 4 News.

He added that Garcia's wife was the last person to see him before he crossed the bridge.

They lived at a home on FM 1847, north of Los Fresnos.

An Action 4 Camera crew saw a boat, as well as animals in the backyard of the home.

Investigators said a friend comes by to care for the animals.

"Before we found out this information out our office was actively looking out for Mr. Garcia here locally," Constable Burnias said.

Garcia’s wife told constables her husband showed up drunk at 1 a.m., asked for his documents and took off.

She said she tried calling his cell phone, but no one picked up.

After a few days, investigators said the battery died.

Constable Burnias said they had contacted the Matamoros Municipal Police, as well as the Tamaulipas State Police.

"Right now it’s in their hands in Mexico and hopefully they can find something out and notify us," he added.

Since his disappearance, Garcia's wife moved to Florida to be with his side of the family, taking with her their young child.
