Three men are in custody following the stabbing of a man outside his Edinburg apartment 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to Edinburg Police Spokesperson Lt. Oscar Treviño, the victim was smoking outside of his apartment on the 500 block of Gascel Circle when three men in their mid-20’s approached him.

Treviño said the trio beat the man, stabbed him in the back and fled the scene.

Shortly after, Edinburg police found the men nearby and arrested them.

They will be arraigned Monday and are expected to face aggravated assault charges.

The victim was sent to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Edinburg PD has not recovered the weapon.
