(AP) -- BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- The nephew of the former boss of Mexico's Gulf cartel is scheduled to return to court Monday on drug and immigration charges.
Court records show U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen scheduled Rafael Cardenas Vela's re-arraignment in Brownsville on Friday.
He was arrested in October following a traffic stop in Port Isabel and charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute drugs, money laundering and using a fraudulent passport.
Details were unavailable, but defendants typically plead guilty to some charges at re-arraignment.
His attorney did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press.
Two men arrested with Cardenas Vela were sentenced last month to time served for giving false statements to federal agents.
Cardenas Vela is the nephew of Osiel Cardenas Guillen, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison last year.
