A Cameron Park man is behind bars after being accused of having sex with teenage girl who ran away from home to go to a party.
Cameron County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested 20-year-old Leonel Castro on Tuesday.
Deputies charged Castro with three counts of sexual assault of a child.
Court records obtained by Action 4 News show that Castro met the 14-year-old girl when she ran away from home.
The girl was at a quinceanera with her family on Saturday, February 11th where he told them she was going to the bathroom and never came back.
Records show that the girl snuck out of the family event and left with Castro and others to go to a party.
Castro and the girl allegedly smoked marijuana, took pills and had sex at least three times over the next few days.
The girl was found after she was caught shoplifting at a K-Mart store in Brownsville on Valetine's Day.
Deputies later learned that the girl had been staying with Castro at his home in Cameron Park.
Castro appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Judge Patricia Edelstein on Wednesday where he was issued $150,000 dollars in bonds.
The 20-year-old suspect remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.
