There's Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Charro Days in Brownsville and Speedzapping in Edinburg on this Fat Tuesday in 2012.
"Uh-oh... Speedzapper's here," one man said.
That means no celebration at the intersection of 21st Avenue and Ebony Lane.
The Speedzapper is watching out for lawbreakers near two schools and two daycare centers in the area.
Nearly a dozen drivers get zapped for doing bad things.
Jose Garza is caught on radar driving 35 in the 20 mph school zone.
"You know what the speed limit is here," the Speedzapper asked him?
"Yea... 20," Jose laughingly responded.
It may be funny to some, but to others it's downright sad.
Andy Romero grew up in the neighborhood.
"I haven't seen it improve any at all," he said.
His mother has called this area across from Barrientes Middle School home for some 30 years.
"Of course I want them zapped," he said.
Armed with a radar gun, the Speedzapper kept watch from the intersection.
Hipolita Lerma is zapped at 36 miles per hour.
"How come you're going so fast," the Speedzapper asked her?
"Because I'm running late to pick up my kids," she responded.
"How about the other parents who are trying to make sure their kids are safe here," Action 4's Ryan Wolf asked?
"Yea," she said.
A sea of students can be seen after school.
The school zones didn't stop Mary Reyna from speeding 41 miles per hour.
"You're more than double the limit in a school zone... why," Ryan asked?
"I never pass through here," Mary said.
Andy believes she's blowing hot air.
He says drivers should always be aware of their surroundings.
He adds how school district employees should set a good example.
"Because they are professionals... And they should not be on the cell phone when it's against the law out here."
Tell that to this next driver.
Dora Jasso works as a paraprofessional in the Edinburg C.I.S.D.
She was zapped for speeding 14 miles per hour over the limit and for using a cell phone.
Both violations are against the law.
"Where do you work," the Speedzapper asked?
"At Cano-Gonzalez," Dora said. "I'm sorry."
Other drivers zapped this week also apologized for their questionable road behavior.
Andy thinks more needs to be done.
"There's nobody here to stop 'em."
