Three men are behind bars after authorities allegedly caught them smuggling marijuana aboard raft in Port Isabel.

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Juan Roberto Caballero-Escamilla, Fausto Noe Cruz-Araujo and Juan Carlos Delgado-Galindo early Monday morning.

Court records show that surveillance cameras caught them leaving the Rio Grande River in a raft around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The men went up the Brownsville Ship Channel and arrived at Port Isabel Navigation District around 4:43 a.m. Monday where Border Patrol agents were waiting.

Caballero-Escamilla, Cruz Araujo and Delgado-Galindo allegedly tried to flee but were caught.

Border Patrol agents seized four bundles with 253.73 pounds of marijuana at the scene.

All three men appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Ronald Morgan in Brownsville on Tuesday morning.

Nationality and residency information was not immediately available for the men.

Judge Morgan denied bond for all of them until a Friday morning hearing.
