The price tag for a recent fire near Rio Hondo has gone over the $40,000 dollar mark.

Cameron County officials estimate the cost to put out a fire at a paint warehouse off FM 803 to be between $40,000 and $50,000 dollars.

Emergency Management Coordinator Humberto Barrera said firefighters lost uniforms and equipment battling the blaze over two days time.

Fire crews from Rio Hondo, San Benito, Harlingen, Los Fresnos and Brownsville all responded to the February 3rd blaze.

Barrera said the county is filing for reimbursement from the emergency service district to cover manpower, damages to firefighter equipment and fuel costs.
