Authorities have released surveillance video in hopes the public can help them catch a man accused of robbing $25,000 dollars.

The knifepoint robbery happened outside a Stripes convenience store off West Tyler Avenue and the frontage road of Expressway 77/83 around 2 p.m. Thursday.

The suspect is seen wearing a hoodie sweater as he walks towards the store’s 23-year-old manager outside the store.

According to the manager, he had just stepped out of the store with $25,000 dollars in cash inside a deposit bag.

He told police he was sitting in his car when the suspect approached the window.

Thinking the suspect was another employee, the manager opened the door.

That's when the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and held it to the victim's throat and demanded the money.

The victim complied and the alleged thief took drove off.

Police do not have a clear description of the suspect but witnesses say he had a large tattoo on his face.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at (956) 425-TIPS.
