Authorities are working to put out a fire a storage place east of Rio Hondo where paint and other chemicals were being stored.

It all happened off FM 106 and FM 803 shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday.

One fire truck was called to the scene but because of the paint and chemicals, more are being called.

Buses are on standby to evacuated nearby Las Yescas Elementary School, if necessary.

Smoke from the fire can been seen throughout central and eastern Cameron County.

Concerned viewer Christian Olvera submitted a photo close to the scene of the fire.

The photo shows residents being kept away from the fire by authorities.

Viewer Lina Rodriguez submitted another photo of the fire via the Action 4 News Facebook page.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
