It’s been a month since the family of Tomas Nuñez has seen him.

Family members told Weslaco police that he was supposed to go to Mexico to visit a girlfriend on New Year’s Eve but never made it back home.

He never came home and never called, sent a text message or made any further contact with his family.

That’s something that relatives say is very unusual.

Weslaco police say they've been working on the case non-stop but have come up empty.

But investigators told Action 4 News that they had very little to go but a video has surfaced that could change the course of the investigation.

The video shows Nuñez’s black Ford pickup truck crossing into Mexico at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge but the person driving wasn't him.

Weslaco Police Department Spokesman J.P. Rodriguez said the person in this video is only being considered a person of interest at this time.

"We do know that his truck did cross into Mexico and was being driven by an unidentified male,” Rodriguez said. “We're trying to get him identified to continue with this case."

Rodriguez said they will continue treating this case as a missing person until evidence points them in a different direction.

Nuñez was last seen wearing a pink long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and orange ostrich boots.

Family members said he has a scar on his right eyebrow from a previous piercing.

Nuñez does have several distinctive tattoos:

• 'Yvonne'  on his right wrist
• 'Hecho Por Mexicanos' on his right forearm
• The Santisima Muerte on his right shoulder
• ‘Nuñez' on his calf

Anyone with information on his whereabouts you can call Weslaco Crime Stoppers at (956) 968-8591.
