Brownsville men jailed after taking baby along for mini-crime spree

Two Brownsville men are behind bars after they allegedly took a 1-month-old baby along for a mini-crime spree.

Brownsville police arrested 21-year-old Francisco Villanueva and 21-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez on Wednesday night.

Investigators said it all started at the Movies 10 parking lot off Old Highway 77 and FM 802 around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.

A security reported the burglary of an SUV in the parking lot and saw Villanueva and Rodriguez leaving the scene in a Ford Expedition. 

Police spotted the SUV with Villanueva and Rodriguez speeding on FM 802.

The Ford Expedition ran a red light but police caught them off Boca Chica Boulevard.

Officers recovered the stolen items and reported that a woman and her 1-month-old baby in the backseat.

Police charged Villanueva and Rodriguez with burglary of a motor vehicle and child endangerment.

The two men appeared before a Brownsville municipal judge on Thursday morning but bond information was not immediately available.
