A PSJA school board member’s brother is facing criminal charges after being accused in a scheme involving school district property.
Pharr police reported the arrest of 40-year-old Jose Antonio Rodriguez.
The San Juan man is charged with both criminal attempted theft and forgery.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Rodriguez is accused of trying to get money from the Edinburg Elite Football League.
Rodriguez allegedly told the league they would have to pay for their recent use of PSJA Stadium even though the school district wasn’t charging anything.
PSJA Independent School District officials asked police to handle the investigation back in November.
Rodriguez appeared before a Pharr municipal judge on Wednesday afternoon where he was given $7,000 dollars in bonds.
Police said they cleared PSJA School Board Member Humberto “Bobby” Rodriguez of any wrongdoing.
