The Weslaco Fire Department used its dive team Saturday to search for a possible body in a canal.

A Chevrolet Lumina was reportedly found underwater in a canal Saturday afternoon.

The canal is located off Mile 6 1/2 West heading west on Frontage Road in Weslaco.

The car was pulled from the canal.

No one was found inside.

As a precaution firefighters searched the canal on rescue boats, using sonar radar and a piece of equipment they drag along the bottom of bodies of water.

The Department of Public Safety is reportedly working this case and will now impound the car.

A DPS spokesman said the driver of the car fled.
