Two men are behind bars after an illegal immigrant chase northwest of Alton where the driver crashed through a fence and everyone bailed out.
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Alejandro Rayo-Gomez and Juan Carlos Garcia-Diaz on human smuggling charges on Monday afternoon.
Court records released on Wednesday show that Rayo-Gomez was driving a pickup truck loaded with at least 17 illegal immigrants.
Both Rayo-Gomez and passenger Garcia-Diaz were seen leaving a home on Lynne Street in Mission but their truck appeared low to the ground.
A Customs and Border Patrol helicopter confirmed people in the back of the truck.
Rayo-Gomez allegedly lead agents on an chase on FM 681 just northwest of Alton around 3 p.m. Monday.
The truck crashed through a fence and everyone bailed out but Border Patrol agents were able to arrest them all.
Court records show that Rayo-Gomez is an American citizen but Garcia-Diaz is a Mexican national.
