The third annual McAllen New Year's Eve Bash is days away and work crews are working tirelessly to make sure it goes off without a hitch.
More than 400,000 light bulbs are being replaced, wiring checked and reenforcements added.
It's all in an effort to make sure Saturday's main attraction is ready for its big reveal.
The giant New Year's Eve ball that drops at midnight is over 16-feet wide and consists of hundreds of pounds of medal.
It takes crews nearly one hour to pull it down mainstreet and get it set up in its position.
Once there, crews will light it up and make sure everything is in working order.
McAllen Director of Traffic Operation Eduardo Mendoza spoke to Action 4 News about the prepartions.
"We want a seamless event," Mendoza said. "We want everyone to come out and enjoy. That's why we are testing it now to make sure everything works properly."
Officials be temporarily closing Main Street around 5 p.m. Saturday as part of the preprations.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the annual event.
City officials will be provided free entertainment and shuttle bus transporation from free parking sites at the McAllen Convention Center and MCAllen Civic Center.
