A parolee is back behind bars after leading authorities on a chase through a sugar cane field in northeastern Hidalgo County.

It all happened in a field off of FM 493 and Monte Cristo Road near La Villa.

A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state trooper was looking to serve warrants for an unknown suspect.

The suspect was not home, but a guy who apparently looked like him answered the door.

Once he spotted authorities he ran into a sugar cane field.

Deputy U.S. Marshals and Hidalgo County Shierff’s Office deputies provided assistance on the ground.

Helicopters helped weed him out.

The suspect’s name was not released but authorities said he was on parole and is now facing multiple criminal charges.
