Weather conditions have improved allowing authorities to recover the skeletal remains of a woman whose body was discovered on a ranch in southern Starr County.

It all happened at a ranch off FM 650 near the rural community of Fronton.

Starr County Sheriff's Office deputies told Action 4 News that a ranch hand discovered the human remains on Friday.

But investigators said they could not recover the remains due to rain and muddy conditions.

Deputies spent Thursday morning recovering all of the remains.

Investigators said they believe the body is that of a woman who may have been an illegal immigrant passing through the area.

Authorities have ordered an autopsy to learn the woman's identity and more about the cause of her death.
